This wallet is made of sharkskin, also known as stingray leather. This robust wallet is very hard-wearing it will soften and take on a patina over time. This sharkskin wallet is a rare item owing to its beauty, the durability and unique texture of the leather, which resembles small, shimmering, encrusted pearls. The granular texture is due to the tiny pieces of cartilage in the leather, which offers durability in the everyday use of the wallet. Sharkskin is made up of a leather half (the epidermis) and a mineral or ivory half (the dermis). More rare and more expensive is sharkskin with a central pearl. Indeed, there is only one central pearl on sharkskin (the small white circle at the centre of each skin). It is therefore possible to make several items from a single skin, but only one with such a coveted central pearl. Leather goods made from genuine sharkskin require no certification, which makes sending them anywhere in the world much easier and quicker, with no problems when clearing customs.
